The Ritz Theatre has added comedian Ralphie May for a performance Feb. 29. The Wednesday night show is to start at 7:30 p.m. A touring guest is to be announced. Tickets ranging from $20 to $49 go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. No minors are to be admitted. May’s appearance on the first season of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” drew a large fan base when he came in second place. His 2004 debut DVD, “Just Correct,” includes footage of May’s USO tour to Iraq, where he swam in Saddam Hussein’s pool. That DVD went platinum. In 2006, he released “Girth of a Nation.”

‘True Grit’ coming In partnership with Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, The Ritz Theatre is offering the 2010 film, “True Grit,” at 2 p.m. Sunday. The focus of the story is a teen’s quest for justice in the American West and stars Josh Brolin, Hailee Steinfeld, Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon. The movie runs 110 minutes and is rated PG-13. Tickets are $3.

Registration approaches for Ritz’s theater camp At 10 a.m. Jan. 30, The Ritz Theatre is to open registration for its 14th annual summer theater camp. To accommodate previous demand, The Ritz is offering two separate week-long camps. Week One is June 11-16 and Week Two is June 18-23. Students will be limited to participate in one of the two weeks as either an actor or assistant director. Two directors from the prestigious Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) of Montana will work with the campers to present “Rumplestiltskin.” In addition to the play, The Ritz will provide workshops for each age group. Clooney tribute planned FREMONT — Jazz singer Ellen Winters is to present “The Girl Singer: A Tribute to Rosemary Clooney” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Recital Hall (Building D) at Terra State Community College. After premiering the show in November in Milwaukee with a sold-out run, Winters now brings this tribute of timeless music of America’s “girl singer,” Rosemary Clooney. Clooney has been identified as an American icon from playing Betty in the movie “White Christmas” and a long list of recordings, radio shows and TV variety programs in the 1950s and ’60s, to her transformation into a jazz singer in the late ’70s. BSA show continues BELLEVUE — Two more performances of “An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein” are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Bellevue Society for the Arts, 205 Maple St., Bellevue. The show includes nine short comedies with mature subject matter and explicit language for those ages 18 and older. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors. Christian concert slated Tiffin University is to host The Abbey Gregory Band at 8 p.m. Jan. 20 in the St. Mary School gymnasium. Abbey Gregory’s music is a mix of contemporary Christian and country styles. The concert is free.

Local art guild taking motorcoach trip to NYC Tiffin Art Guild is taking reservations for its first motorcoach trip to New York City April 26-30. TAG board member Mark Levans is chairman for the trip. “It’s going to give people in the community an opportunity to see what the arts are all about in the city,” he said. The cost of $999 (double occupancy) includes transportation; four nights of lodging; professional guide service for sightseeing; stops at three art museums; a dinner cruise on World Yacht; four continental breakfast buffets; a dinner at Garage & Cafe Nicole; admissions to Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island Ferry/Top of the Rock; one group ticket to a Broadway production (to be determined); and applicable taxes and tips, including baggage handling for one bag per person round trip at hotel.
